The XV International Forum and Exhibition “Transport of Russia” started at Gostiny Dvor

The Anniversary Forum and Exhibition “Transport of Russia” is a key part of the “Transport Week” – the main sector-specific event in Russia. This year the event was opened with the plenary discussion “Transport of Russia – 2035. From Strategy to Implementation”.

The main topics of the plenary discussion were principles of implementation of the updated Transportation Strategy, single core transportation network and technological novations.

Igor Levitin, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, delivered a welcoming speech to the Forum participants on behalf of Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation. In his welcoming speech, the President stated: “It is important that today we focus our efforts on solving primary, actual professional tasks, achieve real and measurable outcomes of infrastructure modernization, improvement of reliability and safety of transportation, development of transit logistics routes, renovation of public transport in cities and regions of Russia”.

The plenary discussion was moderated by Kirill Androsov, Managing Director of Altera Capital Investment Fund. The discussion was attended by: Vitaly Savelyev, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation; Andrey Belousov, First Deputy Prime Minister

of the Russian Federation; Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Valery Limarenko, Governor of the Sakhalin Region; Andrey Kostin, President – Chairperson of the Board of VTB Bank (PJSC) and Oleg Belozyorov, Director General – Chairperson of the Board of Russian Railways OJSC.

When delivering his comments regarding the new Transportation Strategy during the plenary discussion, Vitaly Savelyev, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, stated that “digitalization is its common thread. Transport is being revolutionized all over the world right now because digitalization has deeply penetrated in the transportation sector, leading to changes in the transportation landscape. No further development of transport is any longer possible without digitalization of processes”.

According to Andrey Belousov, First Deputy Prime Minister

of the Russian Federation, this country now sees a historic chance: by using well-established new technologies there is a unique opportunity to ensure seamless and barrierless transportation of passengers and cargoes.  Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, highlighted that the key task doesn’t consist in creating a “transport for the sake of transport” strategy, but in relating the strategy to the development of the country and its regions. Dmitry Chernyshenko told to the Forum participants that there are up to 30 states in the world having their own transportation and digital transformation strategy and in this aspect Russia is among the leading countries.

 

Valery Limarenko, Governor of the Sakhalin Region, declared that transport accessibility for population is the main priority followed by consideration of the tendencies in economics. “It is necessary to ensure transport accessibility for all population of the region, especially those who live in the most remote areas... A new modern airport with the capacity of 5 million passengers is under construction now, air lines network is being broadened, roads, logistics centers and ports are being constructed, modern public transport, machinery and sea vessels for passenger transportation are being purchased”, highlighted Mr. Limarenko.

Andrey Kostin, President – Chairperson of the Board of VTB Bank (PJSC), shared a unique experience of implementing the Face Pay feature in Moscow metro. In his turn, Oleg Belozyorov, Director General – Chairperson of the Board of Russian Railways OJSC said that it is no longer possible to create comfortable conditions for passengers without cooperation and this is substantiated by digitalization.

Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairperson of the Board of “Russian Highways” State Company, who was the last to perform at the plenary discussion, highlighted the efficiency of the new facilities recently accepted by the company.
